Drupa 2024: COIM presents its expanded range of packaging adhesives

COIM, a world leader in the chemical industry, introduced an expanded range of packaging solutions at Drupa 2024.
Traditionally known for its polyurethane-based adhesives, COIM now offers a new line of Cold Seal Coatings that enable rapid product packaging and sealing. These versatile solutions can be used across multiple sectors, including the food and detergent industries, for packaging products like ice cream and dishwasher tabs.
COIM’s decision to expand its packaging product portfolio with cold seal solutions is a response to the global trend of increasing consumption of dairy, bakery, and frozen foods. For instance, the demand for ice cream and popsicles has risen, perhaps driven by higher temperatures and economic growth in poorer countries,” says Luca Gianzini, M&A and M&A Manager at COIM.
COIM’s new Cold Seal Coatings are currently produced at its Italian facility in San Martino in Strada (Lodi), and in Brazil. The range showcased at Drupa 2024 includes two solutions for ice cream and chocolate packaging, a solution for paper wrappers (such as the ones used for album stickers), and release lacquers needed for mono-film applications, covering more than 98% of application needs in this area.
“The flexible packaging industry is constantly evolving, in an ongoing search for innovative and eco-friendly solutions. Against this backdrop, Cold Seal technology presents an excellent opportunity, aligning with the demands for sustainable packaging processes. It represents a significant step forward, combining high-speed packaging efficiency with low energy consumption. Additionally, Cold Seal products are highly adaptable to various applications, making them suitable for packaging that ranges from mono-material polyolefins to full-paper solutions, providing clear benefits in terms of compatibility with mechanical recycling processes,” says Marco Capecchi, Business Development Manager Adhesives EMEA.
“Drupa also gave us the opportunity to showcase the performance of our solutions through partnerships with key players like Bobst and Nordmeccanica. We have been working with them to develop innovative solutions aimed at further boosting the sustainability of COIM’s products.” concludes Gianzini.
