COIM invests ten million euros to expand its Research Centre in Italy

COIM, a world leader in the chemical industry, is investing 10 million euros to expand its research centre at the Offanengo (CR) facility, which is already a market leader for various COIM solutions.

“We wanted to highlight the ‘Made in Italy’ approach to our enhanced research activities, reinforcing our Group's commitment to maintaining a strong presence in Italy even as we pursue global expansion. Italy is home to our headquarters and key research and development operations for both the market and the Group companies,” explains Giuseppe Librandi, President and CEO at COIM.

The ten-million-euro investment will fund a new building dedicated entirely to Research and Development laboratories. Fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment, this facility will explore new solutions to continue the company’s path towards diversification.

The investment will enable the development of new generations of adhesives for industrial applications, including woodworking, flooring material production, PVC profiles, and other construction materials such as ceramics and sandwich panels. The new facility will also house a laboratory focused on developing polyols and systems for thermal insulation.

A key feature of the project is a state-of-the-art laboratory for synthesising prepolymers with low free-monomer content, leading to the next generation of Low Emission products. This investment aligns with COIM’s long-term commitment to reengineering its entire product portfolio for increased sustainability and safety.

To support recent significant growth, the chemical and application laboratory for developing and studying polyurethane inks in the flexible packaging division will also be boosted.

The development plan includes recruitment in R&D and technical-application fields, helping to expand and innovate the company.

“Scaling up our research activities gives our customers a competitive edge. In our laboratories, we not only develop new solutions but also simulate the application processes of COIM customers to deliver effective solutions tailored to their specific needs,” states Luca Gianzini, Marketing and M&A Manager at COIM.
